How to Not Let Fear Run Your Life


Fear can paralyze us. It can stop us from doing the very thing we're put on this earth to do: live and make the most out of this one life we are given.

Getting rid of the fear would seem like the right thing to do, actually if you try this it's a battle you can never win.

It's not about getting rid of the fear, it's about learning how to live with it. Fear is a part of life but that doesn't mean we have to let it stop us from living. Here's how I deal with fear.

1. Recognise it. When the fear comes up, know it's there, 'Ok fear I know your there but you're not going to stop me'.

2. Positive thoughts. I know when I've let fear get the better of me, my thoughts will be something along the lines of 'I'll fail', 'what will people think', 'I won't be good enough'. When this happens I pull myself up and replace those thoughts with 'there's a good chance I won't fail and even if I do, at least I tried, I can learn from it', 'who cares what people think, this is my life and I'm going to live it'.

3. Choices. Life is about creating the one you want, change has to happen. Change is scary and can bring up a lot of fear. We have two options, we can be paralyzed by it, stay stuck in our unhappy situation and die not ever having really lived OR we can rise above it and do the things we want despite the fear.

Don't let fear be at the controls of your life. Recognise it and continue to create the life you want. When you do this nothing can stop you, not even fear.
